Tamil Nadu government helps orphaned lady hold her schooling

ERODE: The state authorities have helped an 18-year-old vintage orphan continue her college schooling by getting readmission to a government university in Coimbatore. Sivaranjani, who misplaced her mother Mammal 8 years ago, discontinued her first-year bachelor’s degree in Government Arts and Science College in Coimbatore after her father Saminathan fell ill and died final 12 months. Saminathan and Mammal of Kalidimbam, close to Sathyamangalam, also have a 14-year-old son, Hari Prasath.

After finishing Class XII in 2018, Sivaranjani got admission to the Government Arts and Science College in Coimbatore. Within some months of her becoming a member of the college, Swaminathan fell sick. “No one was there at my residence to care for my father. So, I needed to discontinue my education to care for him,” Sivaranjani informed TOI. Tragically, Swaminathan, too, died of cardiac arrest in November 2018. Both Sivaranjani and her brother became orphans. To make ends meet, Sivaranjani commenced paintings under the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee scheme within the same village. “I ought to earn for our livelihood and my brother’s studies,” she said.

Sarangani’s anguish and her father’s loss of life failed to stop. Her brother, Hari Prasath, died of undiagnosed fever in February. “I felt lonely after my brother’s loss of life,” she said, adding that she began her existence alone. Meanwhile, officials from the scheduled tribe branch found out about Sivaranjani’s plight and came ahead to assist her. They took her case to the Better Training Department through the Erode district administration. With the assistance of the Better Training department, Sivaranjani was given readmission to Government Arts and Science College in Coimbatore this academic year. She was also offered admission to the SC&ST welfare branch’s hostel in Coimbatore.

“After losing my dad and mom and brother, I am now completely dependent on my schooling,” she stated, adding that she wanted to end up a government reputable to assist people in need like her. The SC&ST welfare branch officials said the state government would contend with her higher education charges. Ago Green Marathon is currently held in Coimbatore, where some people from one-of-a-kind elements of the metropolis participate. The occasion becomes aimed at growing environmental focus. The marathon had two race categories- 5km and 10km, and the runners started from Nehru Stadium to Women’s Polytechnic.

About 10,000 participants from 12 to 60 years participated in each kind.
